How to connect Instagram to your agent

2-minute read March 2026 My Agents · Posts

In this tutorial you'll learn to:

  • Link your Instagram account from the Posts section
  • Link your account from the agent settings in My Agents
  • Complete the Instagram authorization flow (OAuth)
  • Verify the connection was successful
  • Reconnect Instagram if the session expires
  • Unlink the account when you no longer need it

For Marvy to publish and schedule posts on Instagram, you need to link your Instagram account to the corresponding agent. You can do this in two ways: directly from the Posts section when the warning appears, or from the agent settings in My Agents.

1

Method A — Link from Posts

Go to the Posts section in the sidebar. In the agent selector, make sure you have selected the agent you want to connect.

If the agent doesn't have Instagram linked yet, you'll see an amber warning banner at the top:

Instagram not linked Link this agent's Instagram account to publish and schedule posts

Click the "Link" button on the right side of the banner.

This banner only appears when you select an agent that doesn't have Instagram connected. If you don't see it, the agent is already linked.

Authorize Marvy on Instagram (OAuth flow)

Clicking "Link" opens the Instagram authorization flow. Follow these steps:

1. Sign in to Instagram if you haven't already.

2. Review the permissions Marvy is requesting (publish content, read profile).

3. Click "Authorize" or "Allow".

4. You'll be redirected back to Posts.

Once completed, the amber banner disappears and the agent shows as "Linked" in My Agents.

Marvy only requests the permissions needed to publish on your behalf. It does not access your private messages or other linked accounts.

Method B — Link from My Agents

Go to My Agents in the sidebar. Find the agent you want to connect and click the "Edit" button (or click directly on the agent card).

In the agent form, navigate to the "My Brand" tab or section.

If the agent card shows the "Not linked" badge, that's a quick sign that Instagram isn't connected yet.

Find the "Direct Instagram publishing" section

Inside My Brand, find the block titled "Direct Instagram publishing". You'll see:

Direct Instagram publishing Connect with Instagram Reconnect Instagram Unlink

"Connect with Instagram" → appears when the agent has no Instagram linked.

"Reconnect Instagram" → appears when already connected but you want to refresh the authorization.

"Unlink" → red button, unlinks the account from the agent.

If the agent is already connected, you'll see "Connected as @yourusername" below the title.

Click "Connect with Instagram"

Click the "Connect with Instagram" button. This starts the same Instagram OAuth flow described in Step 2.

If the agent doesn't have a saved ID yet (a brand-new agent that hasn't been saved), the button will show "Save to connect". In that case, save the agent first and then connect Instagram.

The connect button only works after the agent has been saved at least once. If it's a new agent, complete the creation flow and then link it.

Verify the connection

After authorizing on Instagram and returning to Marvy:

In My Agents, the agent card will show the "Linked" badge in purple.

In the agent form, you'll see "Connected as @yourusername" inside the Instagram section.

In Posts, the warning banner will have disappeared.

Linked Connected as @yourusername

The connection is persistent until the Instagram session expires or you manually unlink. If it expires, simply repeat the process with "Reconnect Instagram".

Unlink your account when you need to

To unlink your Instagram account:

1. Go to My Agents.

2. Click "Edit" on the corresponding agent.

3. Navigate to "My Brand".

4. Click the "Unlink" button (in red).

5. Confirm the action.

The agent returns to "Not linked" status and won't be able to publish to Instagram until you connect it again.

Unlinking doesn't delete posts or history. It only revokes Marvy's access to your Instagram account. You can reconnect at any time.
